First for GP Wood

Pat Donelan, the main timber treatment operator at GP Wood’s site at Enniskeane in County Cork, has become the first in Ireland to complete Lonza's on-line Part 1 and on-site practical part 2 plant operator training scheme.
The professional and continuous training of personnel using wood preservatives for the industrial treatment of timber is a legal requirement within the industry. Lonza Wood Protection, suppliers of TANALITH and VACSOL wood preservatives, has established an easy to access and easy to use on-line training facility for its customers. This consists of various on-line modules to complete part 1 of the training, which is then followed up with face to face on-site training to cover the part 2 practical, every day treatment procedures.
Pat, who is pictured here receiving his part 2 certificate from Dr Mark Hull of Lonza, commented, ‘The new training facility is great – so easy to access and I can complete the training at my own pace to suit opportunities during my working day. Not only does the training cover the practical aspects of preservative treating timber but also covers really interesting facts about timber and the enemies we are protecting against.’
This training completion followed the recent upgrade of GP Wood’s treatment facilities.
