NVQ Accreditation for BALCAS
- 21 January 2015
Ian McCabe, with over 25 years of experience as a treatment plant operator at BALCAS, has become the very first candidate to gain a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Preservation (Construction) (QCF) through the Arch Timber Protection Treat-Right Training programme.  Andrew Kidney, Operations Director for BALCAS, was delighted at the news commenting, ‘This further demonstrates the BALCAS commitment to our customers who buy our treated products. They should feel totally confident that our products are treated to the absolute highest specification in accordance with the Arch Treat-Right programme.’

As a nationally recognised qualification, the certificate immediately informs any customer, organisation or site visitor to the BALCAS site at Enniskillen that Ian is fully competent in all aspects of preservative treatment.

This is important for organisations such as the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), the Environment Agency and local authorities, who readily accept the certificate as proof of competence to meet the requirements of legislation on health and safety and environmental protection.

Also, under the Highways Agency’s Sector Scheme 4 scheme, any companies carrying out highway fencing treatment specifications must have QCF (NVQ) qualified plant operators. This is one of the key markets that BALCAS is targeting with their high performance next generation TANALISED pressure treated timbers.
